This year’s fashion trip to London was an enrichment trip to look at the work of different designers and their influence on the fashion industry.

For many of our GCSE and A Level students, it was their first trip to the V&A Museum, who display a large historical fashion collection and regularly hosts exhibitions. The Mary Quant exhibition showed how influential she was in the 1960s, and students could see how she influenced some of the current trends.

We also visited a stunning and inspirational installation of Sarah Burton’s spectacular garden of dresses on the top floor of the Alexander McQueen store in Old Bond Street. Her exhibition, entitled Roses, starts with an Alexander “Lee” McQueen quote at the entrance: “Everything I do is connected to nature in one way or another,” and then leads viewers by the hand through all the paths of creativity, which have bloomed into wild flower dresses over time.
