Frome College Radio Club have been given the unique and exciting opportunity to broadcast regular shows, both live and pre-recorded, on FromeFM 96.6fm.

Starting on Saturday 26 November, the Radio Cub has been invited to host the FromeFM ‘Breakfast Show’ every 4 weeks.  Broadcasting live between 9.00am- 11.30am, this fast paced, news, music and chat show is already a popular feature on FromeFM, and will be a real test of the broadcasting ability and knowledge the students are learning in the club aftershcool.

The students will also co-host ‘Teenage Kicks’, an existing teen magazine show, on the same Saturday between 6.00pm – 7.00pm. The show is a mix of music and topics of interest to teenagers, providing the audience with an insight to a 'teen perspective' on life.

As if two shows aren’t enough of a challenge, the students are also producing a fortnightly pre-recorded show which will air after Christmas. ‘Frome College Matters’ will enable students of all abilities to meet, work with, and get to know people within their community; and allow them to have a say in services which affect them. It will feature news and interviews from both the College and the wider community.

Principal, Mr Ball who has been a guest on the radio show said: “I am immensely proud of our students who make these projects happen. Giving up spare time and committing to extra curriculum activities shows great initiative, and helps to develop their leadership and life skills for the future. I look forward to listening to the shows”.

FromeFM Director Matt Sims said “We are delighted to have Frome College students as part of our regular broadcast team. They bring a whole new aspect of Frome life to our airwaves and, from what we have heard so far, present and produce very professional and informative shows.”

Tune in on Saturday 26 November from 9.00am – 11.30am, and 6.00pm – 7.00pm on 96.6fm or online at Frome.fm
