Principal, Mr Ball has issued the following statement

After almost five years at the helm of Frome College which has been a wonderful and rewarding headship, it is with a significant degree of sadness that I am writing to inform you that I will be leaving Frome College on 31 August 2017.

I have been offered the Executive Headship of the Wessex Learning Trust based in Cheddar, Somerset – which I take over on 1 September.   This job involves the Headship of a large secondary school [Kings of Wessex] and one middle school and a number of first schools.

It has been an enormous privilege to lead Frome College and I am extremely aware how fortunate I have been to work with such talented, inspirational and committed teachers and middle and senior leaders, support staff and Governors.  It has been a joy to steer and unlock the potential that the College has always had within it from the Ofsted in my first term in 2012 from ‘Inadequate’’, moving it within fifteen months to an Ofsted ‘Good’ in 2014.

I would like to thank you all and most especially our wonderful students who make Frome College what it is today.  We are committed to providing a high quality education where the focus is the quality of teaching and learning which leads to great outcomes for our young people.  I have led this school to be inclusive so that every student matters and is valued.   There is now active participation for every student through our Careers Cafes and our Participation Fair where employability and business links are made as well as our work experience programme.

Rest assured, for me it will be business as usual until 31 August 2017 with the College remaining my focus so that every student at Frome College gets every opportunity to succeed.   In due course the Governors will be advertising for a new Principal who will lead the College forward and continue to raise standards for all young people in Frome.

The Governors will be writing to you to update you on the progress with the appointment of a new Principal.”
